Democratic dynasties set to clash in August

Accusations of impropriety are already flying Tuesday after members of two Democratic political dynasties filed paperwork to run against each other in August.  US Representative Russ Carnahan, whose current seat was eliminated in redistricting, will challenge incumbent William Lacy Clay in the 1st Congressional District.

MU's Deaton talks budget with faculty council

University of Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton spoke to the University of Missouri-Columbia Faculty Council Thursday before its regularly scheduled meeting. This was the council's first meeting since the University system's Board of Curators approved tuition increases that leave the system with a $47.1 million budget gap.

Missouri’s men’s basketball game against Kansas on Saturday was the 267th time the teams have played.  But it could be one of the last times the long time rivals will compete since MU is moving to the Southeastern Conference next year.  Opposing petitions have sprung up in Kansas and Missouri to either save or end the Border Showdown.
