03/17/08This week marks the five-year anniversary of the Iraq war. To mark the anniversary, hundreds of Mid-Missourians marched through the streets of Columbia yesterday to protest the war. The peaceful demonstration started at the Boone County Courthouse, and made its way to Peace Park. KBIA's Sean Powers was there, and has this audio postcard.
08/03/07 Saturday, August 4th, is the last day of the Callaway County Fair... KBIA's Paula Smith visited the fair's bucket-calf show and steer show this week and brought back this montage of sounds from contestants, kids, buyers, sellers and... cattle.
07/27/07 The Cotton Mollies and the Hooten Hollers are two local bands that play free regular gigs at a popular Open Mic Night in Columbia. KBIA's Kevin Lorenz caught up with some of the musicians and the revelers, and brought back this audio postcard.
07/23/07 Witches, warlocks, half bloods, and some ordinary muggles gathered at MU's University Bookstore Friday for the midnight release of the latest Harry Potter book. KBIA's Sean Powers was there and captured some sounds from the evening.
06/16/07 The Missouri River Communities Network held its first Rollin' for the River Fundraiser this June. Participants could either bike or ride along the Big Muddy. At its max, the canoeing portion of the event was an 18 mile trip from Rocheport to Cooper's Landing that noted historical and geological points of interest. KBIA's Jordan Witt went on the canoe trip and files this audio postcard.
