Boone County Clerk's Office Streamlines Website

Boone County Clerk

Residents of Boone County will now be able to register to vote, change addresses, and request an absentee ballot online. The Boone County Clerk’s Office launched a newly-designed website with these new online services Friday. Boone County Clerk Taylor Burks says he hopes this will make registration easier.

“I’ve always believed that if someone wants to register to vote, they’ll probably find a way to do it through voter registration drives or coming into the County Clerk’s Office,” Burks says. “But if we can lower the barriers to getting people registered, then that’s what we want to do.”

Burks says the new voter registration also has mobile capabilities where residents can scroll through and sign forms on touchscreen devices. In addition to making registration easier, Burks says the online services “saves time and paper, and speeds up our workflow in the Clerk’s Office,” according to a press release.

The clerk’s office website is the first of many to see a modernized layout with upgraded mobile capabilities. Aron Gish, the IT director for Boone County, says the new design is easier to navigate and more visually appealing.

“The new design consists of modern, user-friendly look and feel. We’ve updated the color palette, we’ve done enhancements to the layout to optimize the page flow and readability,” Gist says.

Gish also says the IT department will work to update all departments and offices with the new color palette and continue to make the websites more user friendly. He estimates that all websites will be updated within the next 60 to 90 days.
