City and County Officials Prepare for Storm-related Flooding

Columbia and Boone County Public Works are preparing for flooding caused by incoming storms.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that nearly 70 roads in Missouri were closed because of flooding after heavy rain.  Columbia Public Works community relations specialist Barry Dalton says the city has prepared trucks and barriers for any flooding.

“We just ask people if they see any flooding over a road to either contact the city or Boone County joint communications through 3-1-1,” Dalton said. “But either way just don’t drive over the road. We’ll come out and we’ll put barriers up.”

Public Works will have a crew on-call to attend to any roads that might have flooding. Dalton says to call 3-1-1 or 573-874-2489 to report flooding within the county and city.
