Derrick Washington’s Defense in Court Again

The defense attorney for former University of Missouri football player Derrick Washington was back in court again Friday for the second time in two weeks.

By Ryan Williams (Columbia, Mo.)

Washington faces a misdemeanor charge of third degree domestic assault, after being found guilty of deviant sexual assault on Sept. 21st.

Defense attorney Christopher Slusher motioned to get the case to the circuit level in order to have a trial by jury.

“We are hoping that we can get the same judge as from the felony case to consolidate the cases,” said Slusher.

Prosecuting Attorneys Richard Hicks and Andrea Hayes were not available for comment.

No timetable has been set on when the hearing will take place.
