Flooding from thunder storms has caused a large number of road closures in mid-Missouri, Thursday.

Suzanne Fred is a Columbia-Boone County Joint Communications Supervisor. She says that the number of closures has only increased since early reports this morning. She also says there has been no significant news of any re-openings, but she will be regularly updating changes on the Joint Communications website.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is also monitoring road conditions. Maintenance Supervisor Mike Belt says that it may take some time before the flooding recedes and that new roads may continue to flood as the water drains to a lower elevation.
