Hallsville Names New Police Chief

The Hallsville Police Department selected a new chief of police.

Andrew Van Hulten will be sworn into the position 10 a.m. Friday at Hallsville City Hall, according to a news release posted on the city's website. The Hallsville Board of Aldermen voted unanimously Monday to offer him the position. The city received six applications for the position and interviewed two candidates.

Van Hulten served as a military police officer with the armed forces for nine years, graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Institute and joined the Hallsville Police Department in 2017, according to the news release.
