Jefferson City is one step closer to expanding its borders today.

The Annexation Committee of Jefferson City met Thursday to discuss possible annexation options. City Administrator, Nathan Nickolaus says in the past Jefferson City evaluated annexation about every other year. But he said up until now the city hasn’t looked at the possibility of annexation.

“We’re trying to get back on track, and we would kind of anticipate doing an annexation again every year or every other year if that’s warranted. ”

The committee proposed five options for annexation to city staff. The staff then  recommended annexing an area off Highway 50 that includes the Hampton Inn, Comfort Suites and almost 30 houses.

Nickolaus said the next step is getting feedback from the business owners and residents in the area that would be annexed.
