7:20 p.m. School Board President Christine King said the Columbia Board of Education is scheduled to meet Thursday, March 13 at 5 p.m. to make a decision between Dr. Stiepleman and Dr. Scott for the superintendent position. King said she was not sure when the announcement between the two finalists would be made public.

7:00 p.m. Dr. Scott will meet with the public for questions now.
6:53 p.m. Dr. Scott says he supports Common Core testing standards. "It sets the bar for where the students need to operate."
6:45 p.m. Dr. Scott says he is not running for superintendent for the prestige of the position, and says he would like to create plans to address achievement gaps in Columbia Public Schools.

6:32 p.m. Dr. Scott is now at the podium discussing why he is running for the superintendent position.

5:45 p.m. A little bit of a late start to the Meet and Greet. Dr. Peter Stiepleman is now addressing why he decided to run for superintendent.
5:40 p.m. James Ritter will moderate the Q&A portion between the two candidates tonight. Ritter spent more than 40 years in the field of education, 33 of them with Columbia Public Schools
3:55 p.m. The Columbia Board of Education is hosting a "Meet and Greet" event for the two finalists for the district’s superintendent position Tuesday night.
The finalists are Dr. Peter Stiepleman, Columbia Public Schools assistant superintendent of elementary education, and Dr. Dred Scott, deputy superintendent of Independence School District in Independence, Mo.
Chris Belcher announced his retirement as superintendent in January. His last day is scheduled for June 30.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Aslin District Administration Building, 1818 W. Worley Street in Columbia, Mo.
