A winter-weather advisory remains in effect until 6:00 this evening for much of the region, with moderate to light snow continuing to fall throughout the day. Snow, blowing snow and sleet may cause difficult conditions  for drivers.

Columbia/Boone County Emergency management joint communications supervisor Suzanne Fred says state, county and city trucks are out in the region this morning – they’ve responded to a few accidents, none serious. But Fred says if you don’t have to travel today, don’t: "We just recommend that if you don’t have to be out in it, stay home and curl up with a good book." Fred also advises drivers to keep a safe distance from other drivers, and to avoid slamming on the breaks while driving in snow conditions.
