MU raised a record-breaking $147 million in cash gifts this year for the “Mizzou: Our Time to Lead” campaign.
The previous record of $121 million in cash gifts was set last year. That made MU the sixth-largest fundraiser in the Southeastern Conference for fiscal 2017, spokeswoman Cailin Riley said.
This year, about 43,000 donors made 77,000 donations , said Tom Hiles, vice chancellor of university advancement.
He said the campaign’s success this year can be attributed to three areas: stable leadership provided by MU System President Mun Choi and MU Chancellor Alexander Cartwright and the filling of several dean vacancies; the relationship between Office of Advancement staff and donors; and MU alumni.
