MU Professor to Receive Nobel Prize in Official Ceremony Monday

University of Missouri Professor Emeritus George Smith will shake the hand of King Carl Gustaf the 16th of Sweden as he officially accepts his part of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry at its award ceremony Monday evening.

The event is a culmination of the entire week’s events, and attendees will dress and attendees are expected to dress commensurately. Smith and the other recipients must wear a tuxedo with a white tie and tails, while other guests must wear floor-length gowns or tuxedos.

All Nobel prizes, except for the Peace Prize, which is awarded in Oslo, Norway, will be awarded in the Stockholm Concert hall Monday night.
