New Westminster College President Takes Office

Westminster College

Westminster College in Fulton is under the direction of a new President. Dr. Benjamin Akande officially took over as the twenty-first President in Westminster history on July 1.

Akande is a Nigerian-born American citizen who holds multiple degrees, including a Ph.D in economics. He spent the last 15 years at Webster University in St. Louis as a professor and Dean of the University’s George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology.

Westminster Public Relations Director Rob Crouse says Akande has a vision to build upon Westminster’s strong reputation and expanding the endowment is among his many priorities as President.

“Growing the endowment is one of his particular interests,” Crouse said. “Because he knows how important that is for the future success of the college.”

Crouse also says Akande has spent his first days in office talking with faculty and staff and moving into his new office. Akande takes over for retiring President Dr. George Forsythe.
