Onlookers watch the election results come in at the Boone County Democrats watch party at the Tiger Hotel November 6, 2018. Democratic State Representative Martha Stevens won the 46th District with 65 percent of the vote.

Democratic State Rep. Martha Stevens defended her seat against Republican challenger Cathy Richards, winning with 65 percent of the vote in Missouri's 46th district. Stevens, who was first elected in 2016, attended a Democratic watch party at the Tiger Hotel with fellow Democratic House candidates Kip Kendrick and Michela Skelton as well as Brianna Lennon, the Democratic candidate for Boone County Clerk. Stevens says she will stick to her critical issues in her second term.

"I'll continue to work on different issues on healthcare. That's been my main focus, of issues around the opioid epidemic, so those are things that I've really put a lot of energy and I think I'll probably keep doing that in 2019," Stevens said.

Stevens is a member of the House Committee on Health and Mental Health Policy, the Special Committee to Improve the Care and Well-Being of Young People and is the ranking minority member of the Committee on Consent and House Procedure.

She has sponsored several bills centered around substance abuse and MO HealthNet and a bill ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.
