Treece And Kelly Each File Paperwork To Run For Mayor

Brian Treece is gunning for another three-year term as mayor of Columbia. He filed his nomination petition with the city clerk on Tuesday morning, as did former Boone County clerk, state representative and associate circuit judge Chris Kelly.

“I think Columbia needs steady leadership to continue the progress we’ve made,” Treece said. “I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished in the last 2 1/2 years, but there’s still a lot more to do.”

Kelly in a news release Monday said “eroding confidence” and “declining credibility” in city leadership prompted him to enter the race. He elaborated Tuesday morning.
