Views Update: Hillary Clinton Agrees To Testify Before Benghazi Committee

The House Select Committee on Benghazi requested that Hillary Clinton appear twice, once on the use of her email system, and once on the Benghazi attack in 2012. Clinton's lawyer David E. Kendall rejected stating that Clinton is willing to appear once in a public hearing to discuss both issues.

Clinton's use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State was exposed earlier this yeardrawing controversy over her lack of transparency. Missouri School of Journalism professors Amy Simons, Judd Slivka and Mike McKean discussed the initial conflict in March.

Clinton later explained her use of a single email account at a press conference Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

"I opted for convenience to use my personal email account, which was allowed by the State Department, because I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two."

If the Benghazi Committee and Clinton reach an agreement she could testify as early as May 18.
