Membership FAQ
When I called KBIA during the on-air fund drive, I did not request a thank-you gift. I assumed KBIA would use all of my dollars to keep the broadcasting on the air. You won’t automatically send me a gift, will you?
No. If you did not confirm receipt of a gift, then be assured KBIA will put your entire contribution toward programming. Thanks for your membership support! | Top
Is my KBIA contribution tax-deductible?
Your contribution to KBIA is tax-deductible after subtracting the value of any thank-you gifts you requested. Shortly after making your gift, we include tax-deductibility information as part of your letter of acknowledgment; in January, the University of Missouri will send you official confirmation of your MU-related giving activities in the year prior. For more information and to ask a question, please contact us. | Top
My KBIA renewal is not due for 10 weeks, yet I received a renewal notice today. Why so early? And, if I send in my renewal at this time, will I lose the 10 weeks from my current membership year?
The early renewal notice offers some flexibility for contributors. Many people prefer to pay their membership as part of their monthly bills, so the early notice can easily be incorporated into their household’s budget planning. When you submit payment, your membership benefits will be extended one year from the end of your current anniversary date. | Top
When can I expect to receive the KBIA mug I was promised when I contributed during your on-air fund drive last month?
Thank-you gifts generally arrive six to eight weeks after your payment has been processed. If it has been more then eight weeks and you continue to drink from the same chipped and stained mug you had when you contributed, then we will review your record to confirm and expedite its delivery, or offer a very good excuse. | Top

Underwriting FAQ
What can our message say and how long can it be?
Here are some guidelines and a sample script for underwriting messages:
- Announcements sponsored by for-profit companies may be up to 15 seconds in length, including the required introduction “Support for KBIA comes from (sponsoring company).”
- Announcements may contain information about business location, length of time in business, and a brief description of your product or service.
- Use of a slogan is acceptable if it helps identify the company or product
- For-profit underwriting announcements may not contain comparative or qualitative descriptions of the company, product or service.
- Use of your business phone number or internet address is acceptable.
- For-profit underwriting announcements may not include calls to action, or inducements to buy or sell.
- We can broadcast several different announcements in rotation.
- All underwriting messages are subject to review by KBIA.
Sample Script:
“Support for KBIA comes from (your company name). Providing (brief description) to (target market area). (Sponsoring company), (slogan or tagline), (phone number and/or Web site).”
A KBIA representative can assist you in preparing your messages. | Top
Where will our announcements air and how often
Messages can be scheduled during specific times of day or during specific programs, or they can be rotated to reach all available audiences. KBIA has many underwriters that air one or two announcements per week, and others that air several announcements per day. A KBIA representative can assist you in developing a schedule to meet your company’s reach, frequency and awareness needs. | Top
How much does it cost?
An underwriting schedule on KBIA can be designed to fit any budget. Package plans are available at reduced rates and provide reach to all KBIA audiences. | Top
Can we be billed monthly?
Yes, and in fact, many KBIA underwriters choose to be billed monthly. Other underwriters prefer to provide advance payment. For your convenience, we also accept most major credit cards. | Top
