Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid announces run for second term

Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid says he plans to seek re-election for a second term.

McDavid told The Columbia Daily-Tribune that he wants see through some initiatives started during his watch, including efforts to improve air service and public transit.

McDavid was elected in 2010, becoming Columbia's first new mayor since 1995, when Darwin Hindman's 15-year tenure as mayor began. McDavid was elected with 54 percent of the vote.

Columbia council approves land purchase, but not purpose

The Columbia City Council approved the purchase of a plot of land, but council members haven’t agreed on what the city will use it for. The city of Columbia is purchasing a two-acre plot of land on Vandiver Drive at US 63. City Manager Mike Matthes says it will cost three hundred thousand dollars.

Frontier Airlines and Columbia officials celebrate first Orlando flight

Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid ushered in the start of flight service between Columbia and Orlando at a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday (Tuesday). The addition could eventually pave the way to additional Frontier Airlines offerings in the years to come.

According to Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid, the regional airport is well on its way of achieving his goal of 40 percent market share of mid-Missouri travelers, despite the recent announcement that Delta Air Lines would be ending service out of Columbia.

"Tentative agreement" for flights to Dallas, Chicago from Columbia Regional Airport

Columbia Regional Airport has a tentative agreement with American Airlines to offer two daily flights to Dallas, and one flight a day to Chicago, Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid announced Thursday.
