Walmart sends Missouri workers, and assistance to Moore, Okla.

Walmart says it is pledging $1 million in cash and materials toward the recovery from the tornado that devastated Moore, Okla. And the company said Tuesday that it’s sending workers from Missouri, and Arkansas, Kansas, and Texas to the affected areas so members of Oklahoma crews can be with their families.

Walmart is also sending truckloads of food, water and other basic items to serve as immediate aid.

A day after a monster EF-5 tornado pummeled Moore, Okla., the focus turned to the victims.

NPR's Wade Goodwyn spent the day in the city talking to survivors. Christie Parrish decided to leave her home for her sister's shelter.

Massive Tornado Rips Through Oklahoma City Suburbs

A massive tornado ripped through the southern suburbs of Oklahoma City, Monday afternoon, killing at least 51 people, according to the state medical examiner's office.

The death toll was expected to rise.

Helicopter images showed large tracts of Moore, Okla., completely leveled by what the National Weather Service says was at least an EF-4 tornado with winds in excess of 166 mph. The tornado stayed on the ground for 40 minutes and traveled 20 miles.

For Mo. caviar producer, Oklahomans provide harsh competition

Ahead of the holiday season, a Missouri fish farmer and black caviar producer faces challenges distributing and exporting his gourmet product.

The main challenge comes from the neighboring state of Oklahoma where there are no restrictions on wild fish catching. The co-owner of L’Osage Caviar Company, Steve Kahrs, said a state agency in Oklahoma accumulates caviar from all sturgeon fishermen catch and then sells it at a much cheaper price making the industry more difficult for farmers.
