Incumbents Barrett Glascock and Ellen Kesterson were reelected to the school board for the Southern Boone County District on Tuesday. Only two of the seven school board positions were up for election.

There is nothing unusual about political fights over public school curricula and the content of textbooks. The textbooks can influence how people think about history and social issues, sometimes for decades or more. Columbia Public Schools announced Thursday that one of its board members, Paul Cushing, is stepping down to take a job in Minnesota.
