A new task force will work on planning and preparedness for possible cases of COVID-19 in Greene County.
The task force was formed by the Greene County Office of Emergency Management and other partners, according to a news release.
Since the novel coronavirus first emerged in China in December, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department has advised those in the public health system about the disease. But officials say as person-to-person spread continues to emerge in the U.S. and in other countries, a more formal process was needed. There have been NO cases of COVID-19 in Missouri.
The new task force “will review and deploy existing plans for respiratory illness response as they apply to the potential for COVID-19 to emerge in our community,” according to the health department. It says those plans build upon what has been learned in the past from pandemics like H1N1 and other large-scale coordinated efforts.
