The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, or CBCO, is looking for people who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma – and they’re offering a $500 to one donor a week.  Listen to the audio for this story here.

Convalescent plasma is the liquid part of blood that contains antibodies, which are used to fight infections in the body. The CBCO needs the convalescent plasma from those who have recovered from COVID-19 to treat new cases. Experts at both CoxHealth and Mercy Springfield say the COVID antibodies appear to help new patients fight off infection. But the supply of plasma with those antibodies is starting to fall behind the demand, as more people become infected. That’s why the CBCO is offering donors a chance to enter into a weekly drawing for a $500 VISA gift card. Donors must have documentation that they were infected with COVID-19, and must have been symptom-free for at least 14 days.

For more details, potential donors can call 417-227-5301.
