An employee of Missouri State University has died after contracting COVID-19.

MSU President Clif Smart sent a statement to university employees Friday saying Jason Rhea, assistant director of facilities management, grounds, died last night at Cox South.  He had been hospitalized with COVID-19 since October 10.  Rhea was exposed to the virus off campus and had quarantined before testing positive.

Rhea had worked at MSU for 21 years. "He had a big heart and a bold presence," said Smart.  "Jason revealed his dedication to the university and care for all who knew him through his words and actions."

Smart reminded everyone that COVID-19 is a serious illness and that they should take precautions to protect themselves and others.
