The summer issue of Vox Magazine is on newsstands and online now.

In this month's Behind the Issue, Art Director Moy Zhong and Editor-in-Chief Courtney Perrett spoke about a few of this month's standout stories and about the process of creating an issue with a skeleton staff.

Vox Magazine is Columbia’s connection to what’s happening in our city, providing perspective on the news and culture people are talking about.

Growing a community at The Mother Farm

"She's like, 'OK, the vision is here, and here's how I got there,'" Cole says. "She's just very organized and excited and inspirational, and she shares so willingly everything she learns."

History hidden in plain sight

"I got into architecture for the buildings, and I stayed for the stories," says Building Preservation's Deb Sheals, who has been an architectural historian for 30 years.

Columbia's shop pets bring the fun, fur-real

"I think animals make a nice ambiance," says Helmi Sheely, the owner of Helmi's Gardens.
