Candidates for Columbia's city manager position met with press Thursday morning before city councilmembers were scheduled to gather for deliberations – there’s no definite timeline, but a decision on the hire could come as early as Thursday afternoon or as late as next week.

John Glascock has worked for the city for more than 16 years, including holding positions of director of Public Works and Deputy City Manager. He was named the Interim City Manager in November following the resignation of former City Manager Mike Matthes. When Glascock originally took the interim role, he said he wasn’t interested in the permanent position. But that, obviously, has changed.
