The Missouri National Guard is scouting locations for alternate care sites across the state if they will be needed because of the coronavirus, Governor Mike Parson said in his daily press briefing on Tuesday.
The Guard is working with several other state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, to identify these potential sites.
Parson said the selection criteria for the sites include: areas with the possibility of deficient bed counts, large enough for patient population and where utilities are available to start immediate construction if necessary.
The Hearnes Center in Columbia is one of the locations being considered.
Other locations being considered are:
The America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis
The Dome and the America Center in St. Louis
The Kemper Arena and Independence Events Center in Kansas City
Hammond Student Center and JQH Arena in Springfield
MSSU Legget & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin
Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau
