Agriculture Training Center Opens At OTC Richwood Valley Campus

The Agriculture Training Center at the OTC campus in Christian County is officially open.  A grand opening for the new center was held Monday.

OTC's agriculture and turf landscaping programs have been on the OTC Springfield campus.  School officials say the move to Richwood Valley will mean enhanced learning opportunities for students.

There are three agriculture associate degree options at OTC:  General agriculture, plant science and animal science.  OTC also offers an associate degree in turf and landscape management.  With the move to the Richwood Valley campus, the college will begin offering a certificate in outdoor power and power sports.  Teh new program will teach maintenance and repair of outdoor equipment from string trimmers and chainsaws to mowers and utility vehicles.

Besides the 8000-square-foot Agriculture Training Center, the new facility also includes a 2400-square-foot greenhouse.

The total cost of the project was $2.1 million.
