The Bass Pro Tournament of Champions is canceled for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Springfield Public Schools said in a statement that the tournament, which has been held for 36 years, will be replaced by a smaller-scale Springfield R-12 Winter Classic at JQH Arena.  It will be held January 14 through 16 and will feature what SPS is calling four "high-caliber basketball teams" from Missouri.  They are DeSmet, Greenwood, Hartville and Kickapoo High Schools.

SPS called the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions, "the No. 1 attended basketball tournament in the country."

“We are disappointed that it won’t be possible to host the 2021 Tournament of Champions, but protecting the health and well-being of our players, staff and fans is our top priority,” said Josh Scott, Springfield Public Schools athletic director in the news release.  “We’ve all learned this year the importance of being flexible, so we are adapting, too.”

Ticket information for the Winter Classic will be available soon.
