Where and how we get our information is one of the most important aspects of our democracy. That’s why the Missouri Humanities Council this week hosted a Zoom forum on the topic of democracy and the informed citizen.
How do you get to be an informed citizen? How healthy is our democracy right now? And do you feel like you're getting reliable information? We spoke with three journalists and will hear parts of that conversation on this special edition of The Check-In.
Our guests this week are Missouri journalism professor Ruby Bailey, who also serves as executive editor of the Columbia Missourian. She’s joined by St. Louis post dispatch columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Messenger, and Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson. He's a former top aide to President George W. Bush, and also worked in the White House as a speech writer and policy advisor.
