A state nominating commission has selected a Columbia attorney as one of the three finalists to fill a vacancy on the Missouri Supreme Court.

The three finalists are Jackson County Circuit Judge Michael Manners, St. Louis attorney Stanley Wallach and Columbia attorney Paul Wilson. Wislon is a former Cole County circuit judge. He previously worked for Gov. Jay Nixon when he was attorney general and in his administration when he became governor.

Nixon now has 60 days to decide whether to appoint one of the finalists to replace Supreme Court Judge William Ray Price Jr., who stepped down from the high court in August.

The nominating commission interviewed 18 judicial candidates and spent nearly three hours deliberating.
