Columbia City Council Candidate Drops Out of Race

Fourth Ward Columbia City Council candidate Daryl Dudley is suspending his campaign because of distractions.

According to the Missouri Ethics Commission, candidates are required to file a disclosure report at least 40 days before the election. Dudley’s campaign filed this report and their statement of committee organization after their respective deadlines.

Fourth Ward Council person Ian Thomas is running for reelection. He said he thinks Dudley’s campaign suspension is appropriate. Thomas is the only other candidate for the Fourth Ward seat.

“I’m going to continue to run my campaign as planned, attending forums, reaching out to voters and canvasing door to door,” Thomas said.

According to a news release, Dudley plans to return two large donations that were incorrectly reported and unused funds to contributors.

Representatives of Dudley’s campaign could not be reached for comment.
