Columbia Public Schools is inviting community members to join a discussion Monday evening about its facility plans for the next 10 years. The discussion is meant to help inform the needs, goals and priorities of the district.
The event will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center, 2601 S. Providence Road. Those who wish to attend can RSVP by emailing cpscomm@cps.12.org or calling 214-3960. An event flyer said walk-ins are welcome.
An email announcement from district spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark described the "world café" style meeting, which gives attendees the chance move around the room, participate in different rounds of conversations and share their ideas and feedback with others.
The meeting comes as long-range plans from 2006 to 2016 conclude.
"We've accomplished many significant projects and made monumental progress on addressing growth, maintaining our existing facilities, and eliminating trailers," Baumstark said in the announcement. "It's now time to determine what's next to continue to maintain our tradition of excellence."
This is the latest in a series of world cafés the district has held on a range of topics.
