The Columbia Police Department is still investigating how the bicyclist on I-70 was struck and killed.  Officials told KBIA they are currently waiting for DNA testing from the vehicle they said was involved in the accident.  In a press release the department also believes they have located the driver involved in the accident.

Officers found the human remains near the mile marker 130 on I-70 -- after several drivers reported seeing the remains.

The identity of the dead bicyclist was released Wednesday. The Columbia Police Department said the DNA tests confirmed the body to be 36-year-old Ennis Patrick of Columbia.

Sergeant Joe Bernhard said the department is beginning an intensive investigation of all details surrounding the accident.

“Well they are investigating how and the causes of the accident," Bernhard said.  "And also all the circumstances surrounding it and why we didn’t find it until probably 8 hours later.”
