Columbia Portal Gives Public Instant Access To Financial Records

KBIA

The public will be able to examine the payroll data of every city of Columbia employee, along with other city financial records, when a Citizen Transparency website goes live.

City Manager Mike Matthes sent an email to employees earlier this week alerting them to the site and allowing them to check it out in advance and ask any questions.

The module is intended to make financial information more accessible, said Steven Sapp, city community relations director.

Besides payroll, other available records will include city revenue and spending figures along with ongoing projects and vendor contracts.
