Columbia regional airport gets new leadership

The Columbia Regional Airport is under new leadership.

By Danny Kennedy

Long-time city employee Don Elliot was named airport manager Friday.  Elliot has been with the airport for 29 years, most recently as airport superintendent.  Elliot says he is optimistic about the airport’s future and expects to see continued growth.

“The airport has grown by approximately 320 percent in the past five years. In order to maintain that growth, we’re going to have to get either a larger aircraft or more aircraft flying for the general public," said Elliot.

Public Information Officer Jill Stedem from Columbia Public Works Department said Elliot has a great depth of knowledge on the airport and the mid-Missouri area based on his nearly three decades of experience.  As manager, he will oversee daily operations and help raise money for airport renovation and expansion.
