COVID-19 Continues To Claim Lives Of Greene County Residents

Five more residents of Greene County have died of COVID-19, according to the Springfield-Greene County Health Department on Thursday.  The deaths occurred after another five deaths were announced on Wednesday.

They were two men in their 70s, a woman in her 70s and two men in their 80s.

Seventeen Greene County residents have died of COVID-19 so far this month, and 171 have died since the pandemic began.

The Joplin Health Department announced the death of a 56-year-old man from COVID-19 on Wednesday. 

As of Wednesday morning in Greene County, there were a reported 10,741 cases of COVID-19, and 3,725 of them were active.  There were 180 people in Springfield hospitals with the illness, and 34 were in the ICU.  And there had been a 27 percent change in reported cases in the last seven days.
