The Taney County Health Department is urging residents to take precautions against COVID-19 after three people died of the illness this week. The latest deaths were a man in his 30s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 80s, according to the health department. That brings the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Taney County to 34.
TCHD director, Lisa Marshall, said in a news release that prevention will be extremely important going into colder weather and the holidays. She said cooler weather encourages indoor gatherings, which increase the chance for illness transmission. People need to wash their hands, practice physical distancing, keep gatherings small, stay home when they’re sick and wear face coverings, according to Marshall.
