Free HIV Testing Available Wednesday

Free HIV tests will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Living Canvas Tattoo and Body Piercing, 520 E. Broadway. Tests will require a finger prick and take 15 minutes to run.

The event will take place on National HIV Testing Day, which was first observed on June 27, 1995. About 1.1 million people in the United States have HIV, and 1 in 7 don't know, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC recommends everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once.

More information can be found on the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department's website.
