Hallsville Hosts Funfest

Hallsville added new events to help grow the Second Annual Funfest this weekend.

Hallsville used to have a heritage festival in the summer- but decided to make it a carnival during the fall.

Event organizer Eric Adkins said the carnival is about bringing the community together.

“We never had a carnival before last year,” Adkins said. “And so with the carnival we kind of gave it a new name, and trying to get the community a little more involved with the festival and trying to get more people out here just to enjoy what we have available to them and enjoy some good community interaction.”

Swings, scramblers, bounce houses and slides all for residents to enjoy.

“So we moved it to the fall about three years ago. And then last year we actually started the whole new environment with the carnival,” Event organizer Eric Adkins said. “You know as you come up to the fairgrounds here, you can see the carnival right up front with the rides and music going.” There are multiple events throughout the weekend besides the carnival. Friday night there will be a tractor pull, Jello wrestling and karaoke. Saturday there will be vendors, live music, a mud race and a cornhole tournament.

There were over 50 teams for the cornhole tournament Saturday.
