The Jefferson City Public School District announced today it has found a new superintendent after a three month search.

Larry Linthacum will replace current Superintendent Dr. Brian Mitchell, who announced his retirement in October.

According to a press release sent by the school district, Linthacum is currently the Superintendent of Schools in Maryville, Missouri. He has been an educator for more than 20 years, working for the South Harrison county district, and teaching in the Jefferson City Public School District previously.

The district will host a reception in January to allow the community to meet Linthacum. He will officially start in the position on July 1st, 2015.
