A Missouri manufacturing company announced plans today to create 40 new jobs in Sedalia.

8760 Service Group, which provides maintenance, construction and fabrication services to the power plant, manufacturing, and biofuel industries, said that its multi-million dollar expansion project will more than double its current team of 30 employees by the end of the year.

The project involves relocating its current scattered facilities to a larger facility in Sedalia and making it their corporate headquarters.

According to Sedalia Mayor Stephen Galliher, the expansion will have positive effects on the city of Sedalia, especially when it comes to job creation. “You have your tax dollars but also the new jobs, better jobs for folks too. And I’m sure there will be some new people coming into town too, it helps our city grow,” he said, “The main thing is it provides good, high quality, good paying jobs for our citizens.”

The expansion will not just create new jobs for the city, it will also encourage commercial growth, according to executive director of the Department of Economic Development for Sedalia—Pettis County Linda Christle.

She expects to see more retail and commercial growth. “Adding companies like this and having companies continue to grow, and with the wage scales that we have here in Pettis County and Sedalia, is why we’re starting to see, now, an huge surge in retail and commercial development coming on the, you know, following the footsteps of the manufacturing growth that we’ve seen” she said.

Both local and state Departments of Economic Development have partnered with the manufacturer on the expansion. The Sedalia—Pettis County Department of Economic Development sold 8760 Service Group a Missouri Certified industrial park of over 15 acres to expand and build their new facilities on. The Missouri Department of Economic Development offered economic incentives to the company for meeting their job creation and investment criteria.

The owner of the company, Buck Barnes, was born and raised in Sedalia and started the company from his home there in 2010. He said that the town has had a great atmosphere for the company, and has been a part of the company’s growth.
