Michael Trapp Reelected as Columbia Councilmember for Ward 2

Michael Trapp was reelected as the ward 2 councilmember with 52% of the vote.  He defeated Paul Love who also ran for Columbia mayor in 2010.  Trapp said he ran this campaign on his process of listening to all points of view before he makes a decision.  He knows there will always be critics but believes as a whole, the people of Columbia are happy.

“We do spend a lot of time hearing and listening and talking about the people who are discontent, ant that’s important, it makes us better. But almost everybody believes that Columbia is a great community, they believe Columbia is well governed and they believe the city council is doing a good job, this vote shows that,” Trapp said.

Love said that he made a point of getting to know the residents of the ward on the campaign trail and learned that by listening to everyone’s opinions, he was able to learn a lot more about the issues.  He also said that he hopes that some of the ideas brought up in the debates will be implemented because with so many candidate with good ideas, people can learn from one another.

Trapp said he is happy the campaign process is over and can get back to focusing on city council work.
