An expected Democratic and Republican candidate each raised more than $1 million in recent months for what's turning out to be an expensive Missouri governor's race.
Campaign filings due Thursday show Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster received more than $1.5 million between July and September. Former Navy SEAL officer Eric Greitens (GRY'-tens) raised more than $1.4 million for his Republican gubernatorial bid.
Koster hasn't officially announced but previously said he plans to run for governor.
Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.
Koster and Greitens appear to be the only ones to raise more than $1 million during the past quarter. Other Republicans in the race include Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway, businessman John Brunner and state Sen. Bob Dixon.
