The Missouri Job Center plans to reopen to the public Thursday, May 26.  The reopening comes at a time when many people are looking for work, and businesses are opening back up, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Nearly 568,000 Missourians had filed for unemployment as of May 16, according to the Missouri Department of Labor.

Hours will be reduced at the Job Center on E. Sunshine.  They will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4.  According to the center, that’s so staff can have time to clean and sanitize each day.  The Job Center North will remain closed for now.

There will be plastic cover on keyboard and plexiglass barriers.  Social distancing measures will be in place—there will be fewer computers available to allow for social distancing--and only 40 customers at a time will be allowed into the building.

The Family Support Division, which is housed at that location, will remain closed.  FSD can be contacted at 1-855-FSD-INFO.

For more information about the Missouri Job Center, call (417) 887-4343.

Sally Payne, interim director of workforce development for the City of Springfield, says they’ll be the first job center to reopen in Missouri.
