A symposium aimed at spreading awareness about the genocide in Rwanda is taking place Saturday on Missouri’s campus.
Scholars and victims of the genocide will lead discussions to educate the public about what’s happened in Africa and about the crisis. Professor Rangira Gallimore says it is important to know how to separate rumor from fact.
Gallimore said, “With the social media anyone can write something on Facebook that it didn’t happen like this and everyone will start talking about it. So we need, I think, to set the record straight here.”
The event runs all day Saturday and will feature a keynote address from Senator Roméo Dallaire at 3 as well as a banquet to raise money for victims at 6.
