As of Monday, November 30, Springfield Public Schools are following modified quarantine guidance issued by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

The guidance, for grades K-12, is a follow up to guidance issued recently by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, according to a news release from SPS.

The modified guidance applies only to students.  It allows close contacts of those with COVID-19 to stay in school as long as both parties were wearing masks and were wearing them correctly.  Close contacts will not be allowed to take part in extracurricular activities during the modified quarantine.

Students under modified quarantine must remain at least six feet from others while eating or drinking, according to district officials.

SPS said parents with questions about how the new guidance will be applied at their children’s schools, should contact the school nurses at those sites.
