The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced that three more people have died of COVID-19 in Greene County. They were two women in their 80s and a man in his 90s. All had underlying medical conditions and were living in long-term care facilities.
There have been 17 deaths from COVID-19 in August alone. Eleven of those were in long-term care facilities. A total of 28 Greene County residents have died of the illness.
Health department director, Clay Goddard, urges everyone to do what they can to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including wearing masks and staying home if you’re sick. According to Goddard, the illness doesn’t get into long-term care facilities on its own—it’s being brought in by workers and visitors.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Greene County had 1,306 active COVID-19 cases with a total of 2,722 cases.

Taney County announced Wednesday that two residents there died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths from the illness to 16 since the pandemic began.
