New Student Representative Nominated for UM System Board of Curators

The University of Missouri Board of Curators may have a new member. Governor Jay Nixon’s office said in a news release Thursday afternoon that Patrick Graham was nominated for the position of student representative.

As a non-voting member, he would hold the office until January 2018. Graham said he was happy to get the call informing him of the nomination.

“I will say I’m really excited to join the board and am grateful for Governor Nixon’s nomination and I’m looking forward to being a part of it and helping to bring about some important change at Mizzou,” Graham said.

Graham is majoring in vocal music education at the University of Missouri. His nomination will have to be confirmed by the Missouri Senate. He said he's ready to get to work.

“I think the Board of Curators has the chance to make a really positive impact and to move the system in a good direction, so I think as a student representative I will have the chance to be a part of that,” Graham said.

This position will make him eligible for the Governor Mel Carnahan Memorial Scholarship. An undisclosed amount of money could be used towards tuition or “other required fees” while enrolled at MU.
