President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally at JQH Arena in Springfield, Missouri on Friday, September 21, according to his campaign website.

The event will take place at 6:30 PM.  Doors open for General Admission at 4:00 PM. Those hoping to register may do so here.

In an email sent to the MSU campus community, MSU president Clif Smart confirmed that Trump's campaign had reserved the facility.

"A campaign rally for Josh Hawley, a candidate to represent the state of Missouri in the U.S. Senate, will be held that evening. It is expected that President Trump will make an appearance at this event," Smart wrote in the email.

He acknowledged that the visit will cause mixed reactions, and wrote that MSU stands "as an example for the community as a place where issues can be openly discussed and explored."

Smart added that the university leases JQH Arena to outside parties on a non-discriminatory basis.

"We cannot make decisions on who can and cannot rent university facilities based on personal beliefs or opinions. This is why we have a policy that provides unbiased guidelines that apply equally to all who wish to rent the facility," Smart wrote in the campus wide email.

The university will be working with the US Secret Service to determine security plans, which will likely result in "significant road and sidewalk closures," Smart said in the emailed statement.

Trump visited Springfield last summer to unveil details of his tax reform plan.

Trump has also been on the campaign trail stumping for Republican candidates ahead of this November's midterm election, and he has endorsed Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley in Missouri's US Senate race.

Hawley is trying to defeat US Senator Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, as Republicans try to hold onto their slim 51-49 majority in the US Senate.

JQH Arena is located on the Missouri State University campus, at 685 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway.
