A second hair stylist from Great Clips salon at 1864 South Glenstone Avenue in Springfield has tested positive for COVID-19, health officials announced Saturday. This case involves 56 clients who were “potentially directly exposed” to the coronavirus as a result of the stylist’s condition, according to a news release from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.
Health officials plan to notify those clients potentially impacted and those individuals will be offered testing for the coronavirus.
The notification comes a day after the health department announced a previous case in which a different stylist, also infected with COVID-19, potentially exposed 84 customers and seven coworkers to the virus while symptomatic.
The latest case worked these days and times while experiencing what the health department says were "very mild" symptoms:
- May 16, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- May 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- May 18, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- May 19, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- May 20, 9 a.m. to noon
Fifty-six clients were potentially directly exposed, according to the health department, and will be notified and offered testing. Both the hair stylist and clients wore face coverings.
Anyone else who was in the salon at the same time who wasn't a client of the stylist is at low risk for contracting the virus but is advised to watch for symptoms. They include: Cough, fever, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat and new loss of taste and smell.
